Jaen de Valois, Jean de Bourgogne, Duke John I was also known as Sans Peur - the Fearless (May 28, 1371, Dijon – September 10, 1419, killed on the bridge of Montereau). Duke of Burgundy from 1404 to1419. John was the son of Philip II, the Bold and Margaret III, Countess of Flanders. He used the title of Count of Nevers from 1384 to 1405 - he ceded it to his brother Philip.

Simon de Passe 1595 -1647

Member of the Dutch family of artists worked in Europe. Founder - Crispijn de Passe – who trained his children, Simon de Passe, Magdalena de Passe and Crispijn II de Passe.

Simon engraver and medalist, eldest son and pupil of Crispijn de Passe the Elder. Born 1595 in Cologne, died in Copenhagen 6 May 1647. In his youth he worked with his father’s series of prints, but he soon began to specialize in portraits. From 1613 he moved and was active in London, worked for a period of around ten years, where he made numerous portraits - was employed by the famous miniature painter, Nicholas Hilliard, to create engravings after his paintings of the English Royal Family. In England Simon van de Passe engraved some very famous portraits including those of King Charles the First, Queen Anne, George Villiers (Duke of Buckingham) and King James the First. In 1623 he moved to Paris visited his brother Crispijn, where he was commissioned to engrave the portraits: Philip III and the Dukes of Burgundy. After 1629 he entered the service of Christian IV the King of Denmark and became the engraver to the Danish Royal Family.
