Żołnierze austro-węgierskiej armii.
Wojciech Kossak jako oficer c.k armii mimo wypadku, któremu uległ w lipcu 1914, został powołany do wojska. Przez cały okres służby nie rozstawał się ze paletą i oczywiście szkicownikiem. Nie wiadomo gdzie dokładnie spotkał tych żołnierzy reprezentujących prawdopodobnie formacje Honwed, ale ich luźny ubiór i poza oraz kierunek spojrzeń sugerują, że wiązkę kilku główek czosnku właśnie kupują na rynku a moneta na wyciągniętej dłoni sugeruje, że transakcja trwa.
Soldiers Austro-Hungarian Army.
Wojciech Kossak, as an officer of the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Army, despite an accident he suffered in July 1914, was drafted into the army. Throughout his service, he never left his palette and, of course, his sketchbook. It is not known where exactly he met these soldiers, probably representing Honwed formations, but their loose clothing and posture, as well as the direction of their gaze, suggest that they are buying a bunch of garlic cloves at the market, and the coin in their outstretched hand suggests that the transaction is in progress.
